Group Therapy
Healing From the “Almond Mom”
Virtual Support Group for Adults
Do you have a parent whose rigid beliefs about food, dieting, exercise, or weight continue to echo into your adult life?
If you grew up with constant messages about “good” and “bad” foods, moralized eating, body surveillance, or pressure to appear healthy at all costs, you may notice lingering guilt, confusion, or disconnection from your own needs. This group offers a compassionate space to unpack those experiences and begin relating to food, your body, and yourself with more trust and care.
About This Group
Healing From the “Almond Mom” is a therapist-led virtual bi-weekly support group designed for adults who were raised by a parent with restrictive or anxiety-driven beliefs around food and health. Together, we will explore how these early messages shaped your relationship with eating, body image, boundaries, self-worth and how to gently loosen their hold.
This group is not about fixing your body or following a prescribed way of eating. It is about creating space to reflect, feel, and reconnect with your internal signals in a way that feels respectful and empowering.
This Group May Be a Good Fit If You:
Grew up with a parent who closely monitored food, weight, or exercise
Have internalized messaging around food, body image and self-worth
Feel guilt, anxiety, or shame around eating or rest
Struggle to trust your hunger, fullness, or body cues
Find it hard to set boundaries with family around food or appearance
Want a supportive space with others who truly “get it”
This group is not a substitute for higher-level eating disorder treatment and is not a good fit for those with active eating disorders.
Participants are invited to join with a willingness to explore these experiences in a thoughtful, non-judgmental environment.
